The Manager GTM M&A will be capable of leading the extended GTM team from diligence through integration execution on small acquisition transactions and participate as a key team member on larger transactions. They will have a strong understanding of the end-to-end process and requirements to successfully bring products to market in a complex technology organization including the workings of sales organizations. The preferred candidate will have experience either in an M&A role or in a cross-functional role in sales, product marketing or product. Experience with payments is a strong plus.

Go-to-Market M&A Manager

We are looking for a Manager Go-to-Market (GTM) M&A to join the PayPal GTM M&A team.  This team leads a collaborative workstream across Product, PMM, Sales, Marketing and Customer Service that validates deal drivers and objectives, creates joint strategic plans, performs due diligence, creates high level integration plans and drives GTM integration execution for PayPal’s acquisitions.  For each deal, this team is particularly focused on:

  • What we’ll sell (and not sell)
  • Who we’ll sell it to
  • How we’ll sell, service and support it
  • When we plan to launch it
  • How we’ll align people, processes and tools to support these objectives, and
  • Driving cross-functional execution of the above

We are looking for a leader with strong business acumen and excellent analytical and strategic planning skills.  The successful candidate will be detailed focus with the ability to ask difficult questions and frame complex ideas in a simple and concise manner.   They will have strong “strategic” program management skills meaning that they can (1) articulate and help refine strategy (2) create clear plans that are focused on the priorities that are key to delivering the strategy (3) ask lots of questions and push back effectively when things don’t seem to make sense, and (4) confidently engage with, and lead teams to deliver on these plans.  The preferred candidate will be a self-starter who is very curious and comfortable with ambiguity.  This is a role where the program management component requires the leader to be a highly active and accountable leader with a point of view.  A strong sense of humor, a lot of curiosity and a large amount of common sense are all essential.   This role reports to the Senior Director, GTM M&A.  

Required Skills Include:

  • Strong strategic, program management skills
  • Ability to develop and drive comprehensive integration project plans which include all workstream and functional team tasks to achieve the success metrics.  You deliver as One Team. 
  • Strong problem identification, solving and analytical skills with an ability to structure complex problems and develop mitigation strategies
  • Ability to communicate in an open, direct, respectful and authentic manner in all situations 
  • Strong relationship building skills, ability to motivate, collaborate, and work successfully in a team environment   
  • Strong presentation skills – ability to synthesize and frame complex ideas and create clear and effective presentation materials across all levels of PayPal
  • Effective at working in highly matrixed organizations and in a rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to drive standardization and continuous improvements in our GTM M&A Integration methodology, playbooks, templates and tools. 
  • Demonstrate high EQ. Tuned into acquired company values and cultural considerations.

Experience:  

  • 5+ years experience in M&A (corporate development, integration, consulting etc.) or 5+ years experience in a Sales, PMM, Marketing or Product Management organization leading complex cross functional projects
  • Proven experience leading large cross-functional teams and delivering exceptional results
  • Bachelors degree in Business or equivalent. 
  • Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint with 5 years+ experience creating concise and effective presentations, strategic analyses and similar materials for senior executives.  Familiarity with SFDC a plus
  • Ability to travel 25% (potentially increased during peak deal activity)
