We have a fantastic opportunity for a Field Service Engineer for our Honeywell Building Technologies team in Melbourne, Victoria.

The Field Service Engineer is responsible for the engineering delivery and technical success of their assigned projects. This requires defining the detailed project scope requirements through review of technical documentation and coordination with internal and external project stakeholders, developing and documenting the design and validating this with the project stakeholders, coordinating work packages for local and remote project team members and assisting with an integrated commissioning process.

Additionally, they ensure that engineering deliverables are cost effective by using low cost remote engineering services and driving local productivity and processes compliance to standardization, process improvement, training, adoption and utilization of standard tools and initiatives. They are to contribute to engineering advancement by pursuing continued professional development and adoption of new initiatives within the engineering business.

You will be responsible for working in collaboration with the Regional and Pole ICT Engineering teams to ensure correct implementation of ICT and Cybersecurity products and services in line with the HBS Buildings global ICT and cybersecurity offering portfolio.

This will also include working with peers to identify areas where we can streamline delivery by utilising digital deployment tools and centralised deployment standards.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery

  • Responsible for the overall execution of the systems design, engineering, implementation, commissioning, and documentation of a project
  • Assessment of customer site for installation and design requirements for incorporation into the project design documents as well as coordinating these requirements with the installation subcontractor
  • Review incoming project documentation for impact to the Project Scope and Works Schedule and respond to these in coordination with the Project Manager
  • Prepare design submittals and documentation as per stakeholder requirements, ensuring commitment dates are met. Work with the project stakeholders to ensure timely submittal approvals are received
  • Prepare work packages for team members (local and remote), coordinate engagement of resources, direct and monitor progress of completion of work packages, manage quality of deliverables so that the outputs meet the project requirements
  • Effectively utilise offshore and remote engineering resources to reduce the local reliance on performing repetitive and non-value adding tasks

Work Schedule

  • Define a Works Schedule for the engineering tasks of the project with the Project Manager and drive the engineering team for completed outputs as per the Works Schedule
  • Identify skill-gaps and actively seek appropriate training and peer to peer learning for yourself
  • Plan and execute the day to day engineering activities

Commissioning

  • Develop software, perform ‘bench testing’ if required and deliver commissioning package to field.Assist delivery in start up as required
  • Use Quality Assurance procedures and ensure defect-free hardware and software to field delivery team
  • Co-ordinate the commissioning team during the commissioning phase of the project, and participate personally in the on site commissioning
  • Provide technical support to Honeywell field technicians as well as project stakeholders
  • Assist for commissioning start-up and checkout of systems on-site as well as project management

Product Knowledge and Solutions

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of Honeywell installed products and their applications
  • Contribute to the design, engineering, configuration, implementation, commissioning, support/maintenance and upgrades of Honeywell’s OT, Connected Services and Enterprise Software Applications (EBI, DVM, EM, OBS, Forge, Pulse, Vector etc.) in the service LOB.
  • Possess an understanding of ICT and Cybersecurity principles and design and how these systems and services work in tandem with Honeywell’s OT, Connected Services and Enterprise Software Applications.
  • Possess an understanding and knowledge of all industry standards and protocols (BACnet, Modbus, OPC, SNMP, APIs etc) and how these protocols are used to ingest and share data from Honeywell and 3rd party technologies/applications with Honeywell’s OT/ Enterprise Applications and Connected Services.
  • Work in collaboration with ICT peers to facilitate implementation and upgrades of OT and Enterprise Software Applications.
  • Assisting with Sales involving innovative use of latest technology in establishing system design and providing project estimates
  • Document configuration, testing and deployment procedures

Knowledge/Skills and Abilities

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering is preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in BMS control projects, ideally with on-site knowledge
  • Demonstrated experience working in complex electronic security/building management solutions
  • Intermediate Computer Skills
  • Advanced communication both written and verbal
  • Proactive with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
  • Willing to develop extensive product knowledge in formal training, and in “on the job” environments, working with latest Honeywell Technology
  • The ability to work under pressure
  • A strong commitment to safety and a safe working environment
  • Capacity to deliver against multiple objectives
  • Ability to identify technical solutions to customers’ business needs
  • Membership and participation in industry organisations and ongoing professional development is encouraged
  • Ability to obtain Security License/Clearances required for certain customer sites
